The problem is I don't know others I am not getting into the head and tail of what the OP wants.

Straightening a Tri Square . The tri-square are supposed to be. We get them calibrated and if out it is scrap.

And as far as I know about a triangular file - what has straightness got do with it (As Tina said) in my younger days

The questions is not clear. The OP wants to stamp a rod to a machine and stamp with an accuracy of 0.1mm. get the guides for the rod with the required accuracy. get the guide movements indexed. Where the other complicated part of the questions are arising.

What am I missing ?

Does the OP want to produce triangular files. Or rasps?

Cannot understand!

Not to produce the triangular file ,but i want to make the triangular file straigtened before the stamping process.the straightened accuracy is of 0.1 mm.

Just a thought. don't you think your accuracy requirement is a bit too much (0.1mm/5m ) ?

We have currently procured one CNC VTL - a large one are dia 7.0. The accuracy of the cross rails are checked @0.01mm/m so that is 0.05mm/5mt for you

This is the accuracy of the machine proper, and it is a brand new one.

When you machine components on these then the accuracy will be of at least 1/2 of it due to tool wear and other effects.

This aspect is what made me wonder about your high accuracy requirement and whether this is required ? especially in components like triangular files - 5m long .

Even if you do machine it, likely Planing/ Milling can you get the accuracy?

i need the machine to straight( to remove the bend) not for machining.if i use three roller to in 3 sidwe of the trisquare file & pass the the file through the sequence of foller set above , whether the bend in the trysquare fuile of span of 5m can be removed are not?

I am sorry, i was not clearer.

What I meant was a material removal method (machining) is not going to maintain the accuracy that you need 0.1/5.

Other methods are anyway much less likely. The machine guideways are milled+ground+ lapped/ scraped for getiing the accuracy with straight edge/ surface plates.

Normal straightening with rollers will have a problem of

a) waviness

b) After the rod/ file comes out of the roller. it will bend back, a bit of course, due to its elasticity.

And this will be likely to be in mms over a 5m span.

Mssr dharamajs,

You are asking a lot of merely human engineers as far as diagnosis from afar since you do not describe or name the equipment that you are using, nor its type of operation. You do not provide information of grade of material, its hardness or microstructure. Is it hot wrought, annealed, cold drawn already, or quench and tempered. THESE ARE IMPORTANT FACTORS!

Are you talking about hot rolled steel rod being descaled inline, then die drawn, then stamped, then heat treated? IS the die drawing done by wrapping the rod around a capstan (bull block) or does it get pulled and remain in a straight axis like a schumag?

Or are you talking about quench and tempered martensititic sructure? This would make one heck of a difference on required power for straightening.

What are the prestraightener and post straighteners available to you? Rotating Arbor straightener (like a lewis straingthen and cut?)two roll straightener (like a medart) or a row of planishing disks ( like a Schumag or kieserling machine?) Is the rod turning or twisting in your process? And what is the straighteness and heat treatment condition prior to entering your process.

Finally accuracy of 0.1 mm in 5 meters is, if i my recollection of the trigonometry is correct, (You can't just divide 0.1mm by 5 m to get straightness per meter gang!) beyond most shops means of measuring.

Speaking of measuring straightness, are you describing departure from straight line, Total indicator runout, and are you measuring between centers or cantilever, and if so need dimensions of/between the supports and where readings are taken.

I'm not up to a thousand words, (yet) but you can see how a better description of what you are trying to do just might have resulted in someone like me actually typing useful information specific to your situation instead of a pile of words asking for more info.
