Without more information, I can only come up with a few suggestions. Two transformers are required to meet your local electrical code. Your lighting and other power, require different voltages. To meet this voltage requirement, the available parts dictated two transformers were used instead of one. How this relates to lightning protection requires more information.

hI,

tHE PURPOSE OF lighting transformer may be

1. To match the voltages that of bulbs & tubes.

2. To reduce the voltage little say from 240 v to 200 v, there by increasing the life of bulbs & tubes siginficantly. & to with stand the wide voltage fluctuations.

3. Even small haogen bulbs / pl lamps use transformers, to reduce the starting surge current, there by preventing the bulb to go faulty at the time of switching.

4. the indirect advantage is the fault levels are reduced with transformer being added, there by Z impedence is increased in the power line, increasing the human safety, & reducing the chances of burning pvc wiring.

Tranilamp <usual disclaimer> 6V indicators are run from 110VAC and 240VAC supplies as appropriate by having a transformer built inside the fitting.
