Naming a New Type of Screw

11/23/2006 3:43 AM

Our company has developed a new Single Strew .Its surface is compounded with china. So compared with other screws
this new product's surface hardness has already reached HRC70.For some special material,e.g. Magnetpowers, Copper Power, Bakelite and so on, its life is usually 5-10 times longer than normal screws.
And our company has owned a patent right granted by China Paten Office. So what's the problem is to intitle this projuct a proper English name. And would you please give us some reference??

If you have any good idea please contact me
My E-Mail is :screw_barrel@hotmail.com PS:this new product's outside material is compounded with ceram. And it was changed into customization and scale production http://www.jhtrade.net.cn

I would like to humbly suggest calling it the "Bullet-Head" screw. I associate hard headed people with the term bullet-headed and make the same connection here, as I think will your customers, but in a good way.

Good luck with the new product.

I whould sujest you place the name you will fell better.

Allen screw driver is an example of screw name that make no sense for screw. But there you have it.

You can name it CH1, Ch screw, China Screw, Trc70 Screw, Delmar screw, Han screw, Yin Screw, Shi screw, Tai screw.... who knows.

Use the slogan "Shi screw, as hard as its sould!!".

Cool name, isn't it!

Saludos!

Delmar

Sorry to stray from the original question of what to name this innovative screw, but I must defend the names of the screw styles we do have. "Allen screw driver", I presume is your reference for Allen head screw, possibly Allen head cap screw.

Allen head cap screw, hex head cap screw, pan head screw, flat head screw, truss head screw, are a few among many that make the everyday world go round.

Congrats, though, on your suggestions, "Trc70" has an interesting hi-tech look

Hi Delmar,

I like the slogan in your post haha. You missed Zara out of your name suggestions hahaha.

There are so many different drive types and sometimes there are a few names to describe the same drive too. I've just come across an interesting summary about the different screw drives : https://www.accu.co.uk/en/p/110-what-is-the-best-screw-drive.

It looks like 'Allen' screw drives were originally invented and patented by W.G Allen in 1910. I guess he wanted to establish himself and his company (The Allen Manufacturing Company) and to compete with the square-shaped Robertson drive.

Best regards,

Zara
