Programming a Timer Switch

05/12/2009 5:00 PM

I am looking for an inexspensive way to turn a 115v blower on for 30 seconds to a minute and then back off. Then in five minutes or so turn it back on for 30 seconds or so repeating this for say 6 hours or so. Any suggestions?

There are plenty on din rail mounting double timers (I'll post a part number tomorrow when I'm at work if someone doesn't beat me to it they can be a bit pricey), or you may find a cheap plug in digital timer at just about any hardware shop or catalogue....not sure if they can do mutiple on off, some do good random switch periods. Or the old plug in timer with segments that push in/out for off/on, they aren't so reliable as the digital ones and have lower resolution.
Or a 555 circuit and a relay.

What you want is called a "recycle timer". Readily availble.

A cam timer could be programmed to do the trick.
