Idea for use on hybrid vehicles

05/13/2009 11:13 AM

A hybrid vehicle is running on a road. As it approaches a stop signal, a flywheel/generator kicks in and is spun by the inertia of the vehicle momentum. This aids in slowing down the vehicle and charges the onboard batteries. As soon as the vehicle drives on, the flywheel disconnects so as not to add to the engine load.
