Renewable Energy Credits?

05/19/2009 7:03 AM

I am interested in finding out more about renewable energy credits. I have a few questions:

  1. What are the commodity values or measurements of the credits? In other words how much electricity do I need to generate and show through net metering to equal one REC?
  2. What is the face value of one REC?
  3. I understand that you can sell your REC's through a broker for less than face value. How much less or how much of a discount should I expect to give?
  4. Where do I get in touch with a broker?
  5. Where is the best place online to find this information out?

Thanks for your help.

You need to be a huge pre-election supporter of Obama (such as GE who sells IED materials to Iran) to get any discounts or cash back.

goggle Carbon credits. try the wikipedia definition and you spend the rest of the next few days learning all about it. Do not forget to read about the SCAMS!

There is so much information available on this topic it is unreal. This forum may or not be of much value to you to get a direct answer as the questions you asked have moving daily targets.

There are companies that will evaluate your devices and assign Carbon credits values to it and charge you a % of their value and trade them for you. be very careful who you get in bed with as there are many unscrupulous people[can you imagine people without integrity in today's world?].

There is a story floating around of a company that manufactures cooking ware that saves electricity vs traditional cookware that were advised to give their stuff away since the Carbon credits were worth more than the profit on the cookware. Much more.

Who knows? It is a story, but may have truth.

I hope you find everything you seek and good luck. it is a very fascinating topic and I expect it will be a huge business opportunity in the not too distant future.

happy hunting
