Carbon fiber is stronger because the carbon is stronger than glass fiber.

Neither of these are resins. The liquid used to bind the fibers is the "resin".

GENERALLY, polyester resin is used with glass and epoxy is used with carbon.

Some phenolic resins have been used, too.

Carbon fiber is stronger in tension, much less so in compression. Some FRP cloth is made with both for this reason. GENERALLY, polyester and vinylester are cheaper, though epoxy is superior to both. CF is also available in parallel single strands known as 'tows', and can be laid precisely to accommodate stresses, where FG only comes as a chopped strand or cloth, which wastes weight in getting proper strand orientation.

Just my 2 cents worth.
