Am I correct in assuming that no wireless router is involved in this hookup?

Amer,

I think you may be over-complicating things. What type of device is acting as the DHCP server? What kind of internet connection do you have (DSL, Cable, Etc.)? This sounds like the simplest solution is a "Router". Kindly answer the two questions I asked, and I'll try to provide more feedback.

I get internet from WiFi connection by wireless router, and i get access to private network also from wireless WiFi router and both use DHCP for getting IP's,

when i connect to internet only it's ok, but when i connect to both the internet & private network at same time , i can access only the private network and i cann't browse internet although the both interfaces are connected & getting IP's.

Thanks.

Instead of a PC you should use a simple router. You also can install a router SW to your PC but I think using a PC as router is a waste.

Without further details, it's going to be hard to help.

You need to provide at least some details re.:

-your overall network architecture, including switch or hub

-your current settings for both networks if both cards are Ethernet card -> and confirm the interface card to Internet is not a USB one

The rest is on the basis that both cards are Ethernet ones.

Basically, there is network #1 for your access to Internet and network #2 for private LAN. Is the DHCP server on network #1 or network #2?

Do you want to have completely separated networks? If not, then a basic cheap Ethernet switch may cost 15$: get rid of one of the boards, you'll keep for spare and simply connect your Internet cable direct to the switch.

Alternatively, if your two networks have the same range of addresses, you can simply bridge your two connections: go in network properties windows, select your two connections and right click on then, there'll be a 'Bridge' option in the menu. But this would be weird as it should normally be already working.

If your tow network have conflicting or different ranges of addresses and only one DHCP server is available, then you'll need to configure at least one of the PC Ethernet card with a static IP address. But for further help here, we need the details requested at the top of the post.

Itlity is correct. Linksys makes a switch/router that costs less than $50. Simple plug the router into into the modem. Sometimes they call the switch box a hub. Then all the compters plug into the switch box part. There will be a default IP gateway address that will be in the manual. This is a local address that allows you to access the router from your station without the internet.

If this is a commercial connection, you will have a static IP address. You will set all of the computers to an internal static IP and the gateway will be the same as the router.

However if the is a residential connection you will not have a static ip and the IP address will change often. If this is the case, just set everything to automatic.

Amer,

Are there two wireless routers? Or are you attaching to the same router for both internet and "private network"? If they are both coming from the same router, there should be no need for two interface cards in your PC. If your internet and network are coming in from separate routers, that's a setup I am not very familiar with, I'd have to do some reading to suggest what might be wrong there. So, are you working with two routers, or one? Please reply.
