I know there is a concern about nickel poisoning, but that is usualy talked about in the manufacturing of nickel via inhalation....i would do a few more searches if i was you.

Take a look at www.nidi.com. Nickel Institute web site. They probably have a contact page on the site, and will probably send you a copy of their magazine. There are often articles on nickel alloys in drinking water systems.

It's 'king expensive, that's why!

CuNi is frequently used for seawater at the front end of desalination equipment on ships and oil rigs, for corrosion resistance against this agressive fluid. CuNi is overkill for potable water. So, why would one want to when plain Cu, ABS or PVC-U are much cheaper and approved for potable water by the WRAC?

It's like using a Rolls Royce to pop out to the shops when one can walk instead.

regarding the copper nickel i think nothing is wrong wiht copper as those were used in past but expensive hwoever when u add nickel to tht then we can searh on net of ask a material engg ....but it hink there still be nothing wrog if u want to use it then use it with a minor risk ...however if you want to use it for some one else then we will hv to work it out

CuNi is routinely used in evaporators for heat-exchange surfaces that come into contact with seawater, and the reason it is used is that it is one of very few materials that are corrosion-resistant to seawater at elevated temperatures.

Using CuNi for drinking water pipework is overkill, as there are alternatives that are easier to obtain and a lot cheaper. Consider copper or a range of plastics as substitutes.
