KIA SPECTRA

06/06/2009 9:03 PM

Hi, I have an 09 kia spectra with an automatic transmission and it hesitates from time to time when I try to accelerate past 30mph and it jerks a few times and then takes off....all the fluids are there and clean and this car only has 1500 miles! I don't know if this is the way a kia drives or if there is something wrong with my car...I would appreciate if someone could help....especially another kia spectra owner...Thank you in advance!

you may have water in your spark plugs. even if just a little got in it will never dry itself. it is best to blow it out with compressed air or a spray that didplaces moisture.

"water in your spark plugs"? This must be a truly revolutionary design. (gas tank, maybe)

Have you considered taking it back to the seller?

I haven't checked, but I'll bet there is a Kia blog/web site/forum you could try.

for only 1500 miles , your car still under warranty , go for your agent , he will not hesitate to check and repair .

The high voltage system that fires the spark plugs is very sensitive to water. It can get in the distributer, coil, or the spark plug wires can absorb the water. Spray the above parts with WD40. It will displace water. That should solve the problem if water in the ignition is the problem.

It could also be an ignition coil that is breaking down under load.

It could also be a defective rotor, or cap. A worn set of spark plugs, or any other item in the high voltage ignition system.

Low fuel pressure can also bring that result. When you give the car more throttle, the fuel pressure should rise to provide additional engine fuel. If the fuel pressure is low, or the fuel filter is restricted enough to lower the pressure, the car can stumble when additional power is needed.

With a cold engine, ( 10 hours not running) open the hood in the dark and start the engine. Look for signs of high voltage electricity jumping. It will help to chock the wheels, apply the parking brake, turn on the A/C, and put in gear.

I am aware that the car only has 1500 miles on it, but something IS wrong.

You may have to work to find the stumble, but it is worth correcting. Good luck.

Over here we believe "KIA" stands for "Korean Industrial Accident".

They seem to have a way to go in their car designs

I have the 2007 SX model and I am having the same problem. The dealer is just giving me the run-around. Contact your KIA dealer, and try contacting KIA consumer affairs.

i have the stumbling problem too. the check engine llight reader says that the cam sensor is bad, changed it. no results. also something to do with the torque solenoid, i cannot find any info on where it is at so that I can replace it. I changed the spark plugs and the wires and no result. I took it to the kia tech and said that i needed to come back but i haven't gotten a hold of him anymore. Has to something simple but im not familiar with kia. Id appreciate the help
