This is a decent introduction to flowmeters.

On the subject of flowmeters could anyone give me some advice on what flowmeters are vetted by the Major Oil companies for the off loading of road and rail tankers, specifically in countries like Zimbabwe, DRC, Zambia and Mozambique? Losses on a single road tanker have often exceed 600 gallons (2500 litres) although the average is closer to half of that. (Still unacceptable).

Simple. Write "turbine flow meter" in google and download all manufacturer's catalogs on the equipments, installation & how it works.
