You can forget that. Suggest you get to work and Google "11KV automatic transfer switch" There is plenty of information available.

Try looking at existing automatic transfer switches on the market.

I have worked with these and they are not a simple project the average consultant can design and build by any means. Perhaps you should leave it to the experts and just specify a pre-designed, pre-tested and pre-built one.

Hello Waseem,

You have not specified what is the nature and amount of the load that you are wanting to transfer. Is it critical (cannot afford any break at all) ? Does it have static loads or induction motor loads ?

We manufacture automatic fast bus transfer systems (www.aartechsolonics.com) and can work with you to scope out your requirement. There are a lot of solutions out there in the market suiting different applications and one will have to be more specific.

Best, Amit.

The source change-over may be done using hardwired relays or a controller. The design will depend on the 11kV switchgear intended to be used. Considerations for the controls include auto / manual switch, voltage sensing relays, position and status indicators, interlocking - mechanical and electrical, adjustable time delays for transition and interface to the 11kV switchgear trip / close circuits.

If a DC supply is not available, the source change-over circuits should be supplied from either external ac source or from voltage transformers on the 11kV source circuits. It is likely the 11kV trip / close circuits will be DC.

Hope this give some guidance.
