You don't learn it here. You have to sit down with your seniors, observe what they are doing, ask questions (when they are in a good mood) and learn. May be note down queries, and then discuss over a cup of coffee.

Since as far as I am concerned, I get irritated to say the least, when I am concentrating on a job and there are interruptions (in form of questions).

Checking and approving drawings by freshers is not called for at least in our organisation. Each drawing is an separate entity by itself and checking and approving properly is the most critical aspect in any organisation.

You should learn to check drawings by spending several years making drawings and having them checked by others. I personally like the Frank Crowe method of using a red grease pencil to check drawings - people really respond well to that. But, some simple things to look for:

Is it in the right format?

Does it have the correct company template?

Are all the blanks filled in correctly?

Is it the correct drawing size?

Is the drawing number correct?

Is the drawing title correct?

Is the material spec correct?

Is the tolerance block correct?

Are the required views all shown?

Are the needed dimensions given?

Are the dimensions in the correct format?

Are tolerances reasonable?

Does the overall drawing correspond to your internal QA standards?

Does the overall drawing correspond to the customer's RFQ standards?

Are all needed processes referenced correctly?

Are the views consistent?

Are the features possible to manufacture?

Are all the features essential?

Do the features and dimensions correspond to mating ones?

Do you need to do a tolerance analysis?

Are the line types and weights correct?

Are the fonts correct?

Are the scales correct?

Does it look like this thing will actually work?

And, finally, is everything spelled correctly? When I check drawings, that is a sure reject.

Given a little time, I could probably think of another twenty things, but this is a start.
