Input Current for Three-Phase to Single-Phase Transformer

06/16/2009 7:10 AM

I have a three phase to single phase transformer of rating 50kVA. Please tell me that what will be maximum current in input side for cable sizing of incomer to transformer?

What is the input voltage?

Input voltage is 415 volts and secondary voltage is 110 volts.

What is 50kVA divided by 415V?

50000/415 = 120.48 amps

But i want to know that maximum input current will be 1.732 times of line current or not?

this resultant current will be phasor some of other two line currents.

No. Why should it? The phase-to-phase voltage has already been given.

Use the above current to determine cable sizing , and don't ask the next question....

guest; you would have 70 amps per leg at 415, use #4 copper, for your 120 legs you would have 138 amps per leg use 1/0 copper. perry

It sounds like you have a 3 phase transformer feeding a single phase transformer. Correct? Is the 3 phase transformer secondary delta or wye connected?

As far as I know, there is no such thing as "three phase to single phase transformer".

I'm surprised nobody else caught that earlier.

...or maybe I'm not...

You will not find it because they do not exist. The OP "Guest" did not adequately describe his situation or his needs. This is often the case when dealing with people who's native language is not English. He may be thinking he is providing a valid set of information, but in fact it is not.

"Guest" from the above post, why don't you register to differentiate your self form the 133,984 other "Guests" who post here and start a new thread asking for what you want. Fully describe your needs and what you have to work with. You are not charged by the word here, so go ahead and let loose.
