Hi,

By using Pro-Engineer,its easy to find sheet metal blank size,but i guess for complicated profile sheet metal surfaces , Drawing book(probably 3rd vol) by Gopalkrishna,gives very good idea for developmnet geometry of sheet metal.

with regards

Bend Allowance (BA) is as follows:

BA=(.017453R)+(.0078T)N

Where: R=inside radius of bend

T=material thickness

N=# of degrees of bend

Any consistent unit of length, such as mm, cm, in. (or m or ft for large jobs), will do. Rember that both T and R must be expressed in the SAME units (i.e., consistent) before undertaking any calculations.

You're welcome!

you are an engineer? there are bend allowance charts available for all materials and gauges(thickness) no wonder we who actually make parts have to educate you.

MasterCam is a very good software that will let you design a sheet metal part and give you a flat layout with a click on the menu. of course anyone with a pencil, paper and basic understanding of trig can do the same thing.

Hello Dear,

your sheet size is 1x1250x2500, & blank size is 1x507x1060. you take strip size as 1250 X 1062 X 1 ( LWT), your blank / strip is =1250/509. Blank size wt. is = (1060x507x1x7.85)/1000000. kg
