If you want to manually send mail that makes a sound when the recipient opens it, download the free Incredimail e-mail programme. This can send sounds, animations & backgrounds from an ever increasing range of free downloads & will happily work independantly from your existing e-mail programme.

I'd advise the OP to test it in some fashion (and I take no responsibility for any consequence of using such free services). Probably no consequences to worry about, but you never know. e-mail addresses might be gathered for sales promotion by the providing company (or a lot worse if you're unlucky).

Always pays to be cautious. I've used Incredimail a number of times without any trouble.
