Re: How to improve the Lube oil colour using bentonite clay?

Do you want the colour or do you want the properties?

Assuming that everything is ethical- the used oils are to be re-used in house and is not being sold as new to unsuspecting customers.

In fact we use the oils frequently after cleaning by centrifuge and other processes. Get it tested (send the sample to Labs- we don't have, so we take help from the major oil suppliers and they certify/reject the sample). If the sample is accepted we re-use. We do not bother about the colour.

Re-refining waste oil is a rather complicated process. If you are recyclying used engine oil, then one would certainly pay attention to the physucal & chemical properties beyond the standard ASTM D-1500 test for color. Bleaching a re-refined engine oil is also complicated.

Perhaps you can tell us more about the source of the used oil & what purpose you will use the re-refined oil.

ASSUMING IT IS ALL UNETHICAL,the first step will be the filterpress, you might get a clean lub which is very unlikly. It might be turbid because of entrained water for removal of entrained water you will use some vacumn depending how much crankcase oil you can get for your time period.Dont use inorganic colours as they are bound to cd,that is tell all and you will see every body visiting you.if you are sure you can flog all out with say in six months on the market, use acid yellows with a carrier and vac.If you want to improve it over lub refiner,go to some army dump scrap dealer ,some of tanks have fomblin as gear box oil collect it use half a litre to tone.Truckers will love it

Mayhesh,

In my opinion you can add some percentage of pure COW URINE and see the result. Shore this will work out.

Thanking you,

Sincerely,

Faridi

Actually, some urine is not too bad of a color for a so-so quality re-refined oil. don't you think the person that posted this question is long-gone, so why we waste our time. I happen to be in the waste oil re-refining business so all the posts I have seen here are simply incorrect as they have no idea how to re-refine engine oil.

Dear Sir,

It depends upon following points

1) Procedure of refining Lube oil.(3 procedures are there)

2) Quality of activated Bleaching earth means (activated bentonite).

3) Dosage of Bentonite , decide the colour of lube oil.

Regards,

Aryan
