Is there a standard pratice for testing deflection of screen mesh e.g an insect screen, once installed into a frame. If so, can you provide any quantifiable metrics such as deflection per pounds of force on a specificic area.
There is no test that is done on screen defection in the one used in a home window. The screen is just an insect barrier. It should not be considered a barrier to anything else. It is not intended to provide security or provide for the retention of objects or persons within the home.
From first hand knowledge of a friend who's son went through one and out a second story window. You should look at a screen in a window as if the window has nothing there at all.
My friends son made out all right with no permanent damage and is doing fine. Some are not so lucky so if you have small children take care in where screened windows are concerned.
