Tube Swage Fabrication

07/13/2009 5:13 PM

I am looking for metal fabricators who are familiar with

Rotary Swagers

Stationary Spindle Swaging

Push Pull Swaging

Straight In Line Forming

Die Closing Swaging

I work with thin wall tube and am currently needing 1 7/8" swaged or a "transition" to 2 1/4" within a distance of 8".

Is this for tube sheets? De riguere, mon ami.

Actually, This kind of work is done by a technician, supervised of course.

Get your engineers to approve the plan. Most often accomplished by roving crews (road whores) attached to outage units. Ya just rent them, their tools and expertise.

I can highly recommend 'The Atlantic Group', Their safety record is next to none. 'Beacon' (Bechtel) does some of this work as well, (not my favorite), but still cheaper than gearing up for something you probably won't use but once in 20 years.

Sorry if I am 'off topic' here, but some of us have been there, done that.

Metal spinning may be your solution, starting with the 2.25 dia and spinning down to 1.875. Swaging is a diameter reduction process. Swaging or Spinning could well change the wall thickness, how much tolerance do you have.
