Originally "LT" stood for laptop and it was a slimmed-down version of AutoCad suitable for the (presumed) smaller memory and disk drive of a lap top. It is essentially regular AutoCad with the following limitations: it doesn't permit add-ins very easily; and it doesn't support 3D. Most commands are the same and I have no trouble going back and forth between regular and LT (But then, I would never do 3D in AutoCad and I can't remember how to do LISP programs anymore).
