Call up your local mercedes dealer, ask for the service department, and ask the person on the phone the same question you just asked here.

Quite,I measure 35mm approx but I am concerned that the bolt will intrrude into the void behind the disc and mess up the inboard brake disc on the rear... Thx

The 35mm is from the aftermarket rim? You are correct in being cautious when installing them, as damage can be done if the wrong lug is installed. Many aftermarket rims require different lug lengths. I personally would try the dealership service center again, and get pissy if you must.

Is it a nut or a bolt?

Must be a bolt. I drive a Ford PU

Can you not measure the combined thickness of both penetrated parts, wheel and mounting plate, and choose a bolt that is one thread longer?

Or, go to the dealer and tell him you want to buy them from him and I'll bet he'll produce them.

Should be a bolt.

Yes, but:

"Length of Wheel Nuts" led me astray till I got to the part about, "length of the threaded bar section".

BTW, I enjoyed reading of your G,G,G Grandfather's exploits. Hope I got the # of Greats right.

Cheers!

Lyn

Measure the thickness of the wheel hub and add the nominal bolt diameter (12, 13. 14 mm) plus a couple threads, probablly 1.5 or 1.75 mm pitch. The total length of the bolt would be measured from the end of the bevel next to the bolt head to the end of the threaded part. The rule for thread engagement of steel into steel is 1-1.5 X D.
