Super bright white led wide angle

12/09/2006 3:24 AM

Can anybody help? I am looking for a super bright white wide angle LED for illumination purposes. 90/120 degrees would ideal. CPC had one but now obsolete. It also appears that there is a distinct lack of polar plots showing light distribution. Thanks for help

They call that a lambertian distribution as it follows Lambert's law.

A frosted bulb is Lambertian, a naked filament is batwing pattern (not always)

Many of Luxeon's super-high-power LEDs ( http://www.lumileds.com/products/line.cfm?lineId=18 ) have a Lambertian distribution:

A polar plot of the same thing looks like this:

We actually have wide angle white LED Bulb. Admitted there has been some problems with certain LED applications, however depending on the exact application, and engineering, I'm sure you could make it work for your purpose.

Hi Donald, I have a product using a small colour camera for inspection purposes. The FOV of the camera is around 95 degrees, so the nearer the o/p angle of the LED the better. I am looking for a conventional 5mm (ish) LED (not smt) that consumes <50mA. I have 4.8Vdc available. What are the limitations of your device (pdf file?) and cost. best regards, Andy

Try http://www.dotlight.de/

They're very reasonably priced and ship to the UK no problem.
