16-Channel CCTR DVR

I've just finished the installation of a 16 channel CCTR DVR and need to view the video output over the internet. There is a LAN, but i don't think i can access this machine out side the LAN. Anyone with ideas to accomplish this task?

If the cameras and DVR have IP capabilities, contact your LAN administrator, to connect your equipment to the appropriate server. With alloted IP address and as long as you have internet access, you should be able to view the video output over the internet.

The cameras are not IP capable, but the DVR is. My question for clearity is, do i need live IP's or static IP's to be able to view the dvr output from a remote location. Let's say i'm in city A, then move to city B with internet access, how do i access the dvr. Yes, we have a vsat at the location.
