Our plant has a 4160v chiller with a 120v control starter panel. The starter is not attached to the chiller. A continuing problem with the starter is it fails with an error code of loss of phase voltage. Trouble shooting and parts replacements have been tried. A curious thing is when a portable A/C unit is placed to blow cold air into the starter cabinet, the problem is held off. Now, on the 4160 side, about once every two months, we lose the one of the three line fuses, the same one.
My question is: Can the warmer temperature that exists with out the portable A/C unit in the starter cabinet cause problems in the 4160 transformer that feeds this starter cabinet. The 4160/120 transformers have already been replaced and troubleshooting the 4160 supply transformer poses some problems.
