How to Size a Power Cable

How can I Choose correct cable size of power cable?

Please give answer with formula step by step.

1. Get the system voltage and the power transmission.

2. Calculate or get the current.

3. Measure the length.

4. Get the required condition (under ground, over ground, embedded in soil, trench...)

5. Know the required safety standards (to decide type of cable)

6. Refer to the relevant standards of the country you are from (ISO/BS, IEC...)

7. Select the cable.

There may be a couple of steps missing which can be filled up by some one
