Switch Rating

Will a switch or potentiometer rated for 350VDC (no AC spec given) generally work in applications up to 264VAC?

Usually yes, check the ampearage, if they are compatible.

The DC switches normally are with more breaking capacity for obvious reasons, so under-rating the DC switch for AC application is no issue (unless it is solid state of course ) But reverse is not true. An AC switch in DC application need care-ful study (unless the name plate provides it)

(ALso check up the type of load you don't want the voltage spikes or inruch currents to flow through switch while making or breaking)
