4-20 mA to 0-24 V Signal Converter

08/05/2009 12:13 PM

Hi

Does anyone know where I can obtain a 4-20mA to 0 to 24V signal converter. I have a API process part number API4300DD which can be apparently be specified with a 0 to 24V output but our panel builder can't obtain one in the time from the States.

Do API have an outlet in the UK or is there an equivalent available here?

Best regards Allan

Check out Phoenix Contact - nearest I've found to your requirements is on this link - they do 4-20mA to 0-10V under "Dedicated Isolators/Converters" (MCR-C-... series) - but they do a huge range - might be worth giving them a bell if you can't find it on the website.

They can get most stuff in a day or 2 (if not ex-stock).

Actually, the simple way is a 1200 ohm resister in line with the 4-20 mA circuit. Measure voltage drop across the resistor- 4 mA will be 4.8 volts, 20 mA will be 24 volts. Not exactly 0 to 24, but close...

I Think what he needs is a 0 Volts output at 4mA and 24Volts output at 20mA.

I differential amplifier can work if its not required very precise.

Try Lee Dickens (usual disclaimer). They offer a range of signal converters.
