Efficiency of Photons and Sewage Energy

06/14/2005 10:48 AM

Two unrelated stories, but interesting none-the-less.
First,"a group at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., has found a way to get up to 60 percent more light per watt from a white LED," states a short article in Mechanical Engineering magazine. Patent Pending?
Scroll down the same html article page and you'll find an Arkansas company investing in converting sewage into fuel. They're using their patented ammonia removing process at a New York City treatment plant and another patented process to turn "sludge into a biosolid with high energy content."

Energy

Energy reclamation will be a HUGE business in the future as Biowaste is one of the more abundant supplies of hydrogen that we have easy access too. It generally has already been collected and ready for processing.
So how long till we start mining our dumps for plastics and steel?
