Please define the abbreviation "SEER". Ban abbreviations ASAP!

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating.

I believe the ARI (American Refrigeration Institute!) performs the "official" ratings. Try to contact them for the methods they use to determine the number.

You will need the "seasonal" weather profile of temperatures and hours to develop a spreadsheet to compute the seasonal energy consumption.

A free online calculator at:

http://download.cnet.com/GaX-SEER-Calculator/3000-12565_4-10830409.html

claims incude:

GaX SEER Calculator provides an easy way to calculate SEER for single, two and variable speed compressor systems. All the calculations are based on the latest equations from AHRI and ASHRAE as of today. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com

Maybe it helps.

SEER is calculated as follows:

SEER = (seasonal Btu of cooling) / (seasonal watt-hours of electricity used)

There are a number of links to detailed procedures for calculating. One of which is at: https://www1.eere.energy.gov/buildings/appliance_standards/residential/pdfs/central_ac_tp_2005.pdf
