Why?

If you need one they are far cheaper to buy than make.....also very dangerous to human life, especially anyone with no experience of high voltage electronics....

Therefore I ask what are your qualifications in this area?

I am pleased to hear that you are used to working with high voltages. Safety first.

I once played with the idea of making an inverter, but found that a bought one suited my pocket much better! So sadly, I am not able to help you, but if you google "inverter" and include the final voltage you wish to have (110 or 240 for example), there are many circuits available on the web.

I hope you find something that attracts you in every way and fits in with what you want to make size wise.
