Wind Generator Gearmotors made in USA?

I may be mistaken, but I believe that GE manufactures these somewhere in Europe.

I have seen them come in on ships to East Coast Ports.

You could well be right, apparently Denmark is the country leading the supply of wind generators over here in Europe, so I guess that it would make sense for GE to manufacture these items as close to their biggest customer as possible to save on shipping costs. It would also make commercial sense to work with the market leaders, especially with regard to future research and development.

I was thinking a Scandinavian Country, but wasn't sure.

I work for Bosch Rexroth and our Gearboxes are produced in our Witten, Germany plant. We primarily supply to Vestas and Siemens. We are investigating the possiblity to provide them out of our South Carolina plant but right now everything comes from Witten through Lake Zurich, Illinois.

Doesn't Gamesa have a plant somewhere in The Dakotas, USA?

Fairfield Mfg has a plant in Indiana that produces gears for large wind turbines. Try them.

I work for GlobalSpec and have a number of clients in this specific area. I have been told that Winergy is the premier drive manufacturer out of Germany. I don't know of any drive manufacturers here in the states for the scale of wind generator you are asking about.
