Choosing Circuit Breaker

08/28/2009 6:14 AM

Hi everybody.

Now, i have a project. I have to choose a circuit breaker for distribution system. I have a circuit breaker catalog of Siemens, in this catalog i see two parameters that i can't discriminate them:

- Rate short circuit breaking current.

- Rate short circuit making current.

Anybody helps me to explain what they mean.

Thank you very much.

The first is the maximum current that the device will experience when the contacts open. It is available from the Prospective Fault Current, which should be available from the installer's test certificate for the cabling.

The second is the maximum current that the device will experience when the contacts close.

The two currents should be the same.

DrFreon,

Don't be so rude. Conveo's first language is presumably Vietnamese. How is your Vietnamese? Or any other language for that matter? Tolerance is a virtue. If you do not understand something just ask for clarification.
