Using A.A.C. Block

08/29/2009 5:59 PM

I come from a part of the world where autoclaved aerated concrete has not 'taken hold' If you have had design or practical experience with this material i would like to hear from you.... Favorable or Unfavorable. Thanks K

AAC (Aerated Autoclaved Concrete) is infinitely better than building something with firewood. However, the basic technology is archaic and there are much better and simpler (think more cost effective) ways to do aerated concrete.

Using preformed foam technology is easier, produces a much stronger AND better insulative product, needs no expensive and environmental damaging autoclave. etc, etc,

Just google aerated cellular concrete.

(By the way, when you look at the strength to density given for the portland based aerated concrete, multiply by ten to see what the strength of aerated ceramic cement is.

Please read the chapter 1 of the book titled Developments in the formulation and reinforcement of concrete Edited by Sidney Mindess, Wood Head Publishing in Materials. This chapter is contributed by Prof. R. Klingner, University of Texas at Austin, USA.

Is the Fly ash is better for AAC or Sand?
