Hello mark 1,

There is several names.

Glass lens cover,

Plastic lens cover,

Gauge cover,

Gauge cluster cover,

Gauge glass,

Gauge face,

Cluster Bezel is the most often used phrase I think. Type your request into Wiki.

Instrument cluster gauge face...............................

Check out this instructive video: http://www.ehow.com/video_2327715_removing-instrument-cluster-bezel.html

You choose? It depends entirely on how the cover, or lens etc is described in any particular Manual. I suggest you go along to your local Library and have a look at some of the Motor Car Repair Manuals there.

A bezel is the rim - the bit around the outside.

Strictly, the clear element is called a "Crystal", however the common usage in the UK these days is "Lens".

Hello Castor,

Hope you are fine?

I did realise that the 'bezel' was the lens surround. But on some of the examples I was trying to give an answer to what the complete Instrument Configuration in a car would be called.

I appreciate your reply post though, thanks you.

Take care

True, Babybear, true.

I'm an ageing instrument engineer by profession and a bit pedantic, I guess - especially with differing nomenclature across the oceans....

Hello Castor,

I really thank you for your kind words. As you say 'nomenclature' is everything, and I too am pedantic, as I have found it helps especially when you are searching for something, the correct name will always bring forth more replies?

I did try to answer the requested info' as best I could. The fact is that often in literature from the same manufacturer there will be differences in nomenclatures from one publication to the next, depending on who wrote it and their knowledge?

Thank you anyway my friend.

Hello Guest,

I appreciate your note to the previous post who's sender wrote in 'UPPERCASE'! They should learn spelling is important also!

Thank once again, as that post was aimed at me, and for no good reason.

First, using all caps is rude. Second, you spelled "their" wrong twice, not once as was suggested.

And your entire comment is over the top.

Hello lynlynch,[p]

I very much appreciate your reply to the as-hole of a guest who replied to my offer of help for the OP. I have not answered that reply by Guest but I will be reporting them! As it was just seriously bad posting? I am not aware of help coming the the 'UPPER-CASE' person?

Take care my friend.
