Resin Requirements

09/04/2009 6:16 AM

Hi guys,

Does anybody know what type of resin best meets the following specifications?

  1. Able to take a load of 60kg with a thinckness of 8mm for an area of 1m x 0.5m.
  2. Able to burn at a temperature of 150oC.
  3. Able to form composite material with wood fibers.
  4. Will not release much toxic chemicals into the atmosphere when burnt.

Thanks everyone.

"Able to burn at a temperature of 150oC"

Do you mean produce a flame with a temperature of 150 C, or begin to flame at 150 C.

In either case this could be an issue. I'm not sure you can release enough combustible gasses from your solid mass to support a flame at 150C.

Begin to flame at 150oC. Actually, that's kind of a low estimate.300oC might be a more accurate figure. I went for the low figure as the person who sought my advice didn't tell me exactly what she wanted to use this application for.
