Most good answers are the direct result of good questions.

I'm not suggesting that providing a web site is a good answer in the "GA" sense, but my point is if we knew that you were well versed in the fundamentals, we could get down to cases much sooner.

One sentence questions leave a lot unanswered, and unasked.

Good Luck!

My experience with blowers is akin to an appliance user. I used off-the-shelf products for industrial drying mostly. 5-15HP.

I'm not aware of any good titles, but I'll bet one of the smart guys here will give you some suggestions.

Stick around.

It depends on what you plan to supercharge. If you want a scholarly text, I suggest "The Internal Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice" by Charles Fayette Taylor. It's an old, but respected source. In my experience, the best company in the modern supercharging field is Eaton.

One of the best books I've run into was something like "Supercharging and turbocharging " found in the hot rodding section of a magazine rack. It was suprisingly complete. It included ships, aircraft and trucks. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but I let a friend ( an ex friend ?) borrow it and never saw it again. I really miss it.

I love motorcycles so I recommend these magazines on turbocharging bikes. Harley Davidson magazines in particular. The mags, Easyriders, Bike, Biker, come to mind. Easyriders publishes several magazines for different riders and their riding styles. But I got to tell you friend, some of these mags have pictures of ladies that you don't need to be lookin' at for another 10 years. Another place to go on the internet is the organization for land speed records at the Great Salt Lake in Nevada. These people who build their own rediculously fast motorcycles have their own websites also and they will tell you what they did to build their bikes. By the way, there are all classes which run for speed records, and supercharged is one of them. Try also the national drag racing motorcycle organization. The fastest bikes on the planet race in quarter mile sprints. Find out who the owners and builders are and look them up online.

Supercharging is just merely using a blower to introduce more air into your engine combustion chambers (particularly diesel engines). This design was more prevalent during the 50's & the 60's on higher rated generators such as Caterpillar, IH, Perkins, Cummins, etc. However, they are seldom found on later design of machine at these days since it is already replaced by turbocharger which gets its driving power from the exhaust gas of the engine itself. Incidentally, power of the supercharger is obtained from the horsepower of the engine itself, which it eats up to 20% of the output.
