Hydraulic Pump Calculations

09/15/2009 4:51 PM

I am currently studying for my hnc in mechanical engineering and the notes we have been given out are not very helpful, half the formulas have been cut off by the photocopier. Help would be much a appreciated. Thanks.

Question 1:

A hydraulic pump delivers 0.03m3/min to a motor which drives against a torque of 34Nm. It has a mechanical effciency of 83% and a volumetric effciency of 90%. The pump delivers at a pressure of 300 bar and it is assumed that there are no losses between the pump and motor, determine:

(i) The maximum speed of the motor.

(ii) The maximum power deliverd by the motor.

Question 2:

A closed capacity circuit uses a fixed capacity pump. The pump has a capacity of 36cm3/rev and runs at 15rev/sec. The pressure rise across the pump is 24MN/m2. If the overall efficiency of the pump is 88% and the volumetric effciency is 92%, determine:

(i) The pump power ouput.

(ii) The pump shaft power.

Would also appreciate if you could provide all working. Thanks again.

Before you get jumped by everyone I will politely tell you we don't do homework here. If you are missing formulas I suggest you speak with your professor and have him provide you with the missing information.

Thank you and have a nice day
