UPS Enclosure

09/16/2009 5:56 AM

Im going to fabricate an enclosure for paralleling of UPS containing 3 breakers which is 40AT each ,for two 6Kvar and one 5 Kvar , then it will be connected to a common busbar. is this setup correct? what if you have 3 different UPS?

i think your setup is not advisable. please consider once again. the output voltage and frequency of three ups will not be same. so you cannot combine the output.

is this setup correct

If you are paralleling up three of these UPS's to power loads on a single feeder then no! It is highly unlikely that the UPS's you have are able to share the load across them, in which case in the event of a power failure each UPS would shut down under overload conditions in a chain reaction. In this case you need to get either a single properly sized UPS or special UPS's that are capable of having their outputs parallel connected (which is an unlikely feature for such a small UPS size).

If you are paralleling up the power input side of three of these UPS's to power loads on three separate individual output feeders (one UPS per feeder) then that will work, as long as the individual feeder load is less than the rating of the individual UPS feeding that load.

Check the UPS data sheets and application information on the UPS manufacturer website for more information. If in any further doubt consult the UPS manufacturer for a suitable UPS product or solution that meets your specific requirements.
