• Download the following PDF file for design of nonstandard flanges as per ASME code, Section VIII, Division 1, Appendix 2: Nonstandard Flange_Design_Calculations

• Also, see the following CR4 Thread for more informations: Calculating Flange Thickness.

Dear Haz,

more deatils on your problem like available space between existing flanges and flange dimensions will help us to provide suitable solution to fix problem. You need to think of customised flane incase possibility of standard flange is not possible.

You wrote: "Newbie here." If you are a "Newbie" then the best advice I (or anyone) can give you is, stick to the standard sizes. You are asking for trouble when you go off standard and try to reinvent the wheel. You will also need to consider the Bolts and the Gasket which includes the initial installation and all future replacements. When in doubt, Don't!

"design a flange in between the vessel" What does this mean?

"when the standard size flange are not suitable?" What does this mean?

"id =550mm" Why not use a 24" Flange
