Anybody out there transition from traditional engineering into Law? Specifically patent, intellectual, or business law. I'm looking for general thoughts, ideas, critiques, or anything else you feel the need to state.

several of my friends did this. As long as you are a good engineer there can be a good symbiosis with a lawyer capable of understanding new complex patents. Quite a strong need to keep up in the engineering end as well as the legal end and there is also strong pressure to specialize as one man cannot know all of engineering.
Anyone can change profession, but must understand and do things. After all in any filed you are going to apply your brain to solve the problem. hence one has to know in what field he can do better and choose it. he can discover it early or at any age or may not be able to discover at all.
Great Idea!! Too many lawyers making rules and laws affecting engineering that know nothing about engineering, so your going into law will be a step in the right direction.

If so, this course of action will significantly increase your income. It could also be satisfying, depending on whether you end up protecting something worthwhile.
If not, it will drive you up the wall and your associates round the bend.
