Southwest Windpower - Customer Complaints?

09/21/2009 5:08 AM

Hi All,

Southwest wind generator seems the most popular small wind generator in the world, as far as I know. I'm going to install one at my back yard. But when I will send email to the company center to get a packing list and price list from them and show them my interest, just get no response.

Is there anybody who can give me a hand?

B/Rgds.

Rudy

I would take that as an indication of the delivery/service level you can expect, and I'd take my custom elsewhere.
Most companies these days seem to be populated by people who know nothing about the products they sell and care even less.

if your from the uk id advise using theese guys http://www.navitron.org.uk/index.php used them not so long ago, only company i came across who knew what spare part's where.

our experiance may be of intrest to you.

purchased a windmill kit(1.5KW windmill with batteries and a 40ft pole and fitting Kit, invertor's etc) form a british company, payed cheque, after waiting 3 week's contacted the company, who said there on their way, after another week or so half of the bits turned up (windmill + 20 foot extension + blades, but no batt's or invertor or rest of the pole or instructions), tried to contact the company and got no reply, so contacted the police. he had gone bankrupt and was under investigation for another offfence. so this left us with the hastle of making/finding the remaining parts at our expence.

after erecting the windmill for a test run, got to around half operating efiiciency (.8KW) and one of the blades gave, then being unbalanced shook the remaing to to pieces. with the company being bust part's became a problem , that and the lack of paperwork (moddel number etc) meant that we spent 6 month searching fro blades, this is when i came across navitron, i emailed him a breif cad drawing of the blades and he contacted me within hour's to confirm the size's , and had them on my door step the next day for a fraction of what i thought it was going to cost, they also came with a fittin/ballancing guide, which have been working fine for the past 4 months.

moral of the story

make shure whatever company you go with isnt going to leave you with problem's

Hello Guest,

I emailed the company on your behalf, with a link to this thread. I received an automated response with a "ticket number" for the complaint. I'll let you know if I hear anything more.

In the meantime, why not register with CR4 and introduce yourself?

Hi Rudy,

You can ask Georgy Herbert Walker Bush for it.

You can also search from Southwest wind power web, but maybe it's difficult for you to get exactly complete retailer's price there, as I have already done it.

You can turn to some distributors, too.

By the way, please have a look at www.chinahummer.cn/eng

Dear "Guest":

I would be pleased to provide you with the information and documentation you are requesting -- please feel free to contact me at ric.hatch@windenergy.com

I will just need an order number or the serial number of your turbine to cross reference to provide you with a Packing List.

Regards,

Ric Hatch

Hello buddies,

This is my first time visiting CR4 and I feel attracted immediately.

I'm going to start a company to distribute wind turbine after I quitted my enginnering job.

So I searched and surveyed a lot for many wind turbine manufacturers, like Southwest as the above mentioned, ARE, Proven, Westwind,Navitron,Bergey, etc.

And then, god help me, I can't figure out which one I have to indulge in.

Besides, I'm also planing to import from China, but I'm not sure if it is better.

Price is always the first thing, I want to have the best price so that I can give my customers more discounts and let the business run smoothly.

Hey, who knows the general profit of wind turbine in Florid, and what discount should I offer to customers?

Good replies will be much appreciated!

Thank You!

We're 2 old men (75 & 70 y/o) who invested $30,000 of our life savings on 2 Skystream 3.7 wind turbines by Southwest Windpower. After 18 months they're still not standing straight and LEVEL (a must) and not producing KWhrs as promoted and advertised by the Company. Instead of honoring their promises to correct these problems, they have done an about face and filed a Law Suit against us! A hell of a way to do business, don't you think? To read all about our problems, please read this little website where I was able to post everything: http://b-d.ranch.tripod.com/twoskystream37installationsgonewrong/ I'd surely appreciate hearing from you!

Be careful Rudy! You might want to read about my dilemma with Southwest Windpower as we bought two of their Skystream 3.7's. After almost 2 years and many service calls, they will not remain level which is critical for them to float and seek the wind and to generate KWhrs. Here's a link to our little website if you're interested. Let me hear from you. ~Charles~ <email removed> http://b-d.ranch.tripod.com/twoskystream37installationsgonewrong/
