How to know the ferrite count ?.What is the purpose? Why so need to check in Duplex Material?

My guess is the micro they show isn't even40% ferrite... There's a boatload of austenite in that pic and much of the ferrite is a thin film between grains...

You may want to check Standard ASTM E-562 " Standard Test Method for Determining Volume Fraction by Systematic Manual Point Count".

Also, document API TR 938-C "Use of Duplex Stainless Steels in the Oil Refining Industry" gives you a modified ferrite tests (ASTM E-562).
