09/27/2009 1:52 AM

Hi There,

I'm interested in distributing wind turbine, my target market is in Ireland, is there anybody who knows the general profit?

Any idea about how to marketing and finding the most suitable suppliers?

Thank you!

All the suppliers are on the web, find them by search, as are the distributors. You will find the field is full of sellers and manufacturers of all sizes. It is a hot item so people are jumping on it.

That means it is very competitive and unless you know what you are doing and how to analyze things, install them etc, you will soon fall prey to the scammers.

They sell the "best" units, with the "highest efficiency" that make you the "most money", you know what I mean.

The sale and distribution as well as making of the wind turbines is a skilled craft. It does not have a low cost of entry. many people will be selling the same unit as you and people will find them by web search and get quotes. The cost of entry is skill and experience. Best way is to get a job with an installer, be ready to climb towers, be ready to use safety harnesses and know the local installation codes for installing and interfacing these items. Radio antenna tower installers have a leg up in this business as they have many common skills

As mentioned by Aurizon it depends on the regulations with each area. I am however not sure about your question as you say you are interested in distributing wind turbine. Do you mean you want to distribute power generated by them, or do you want to offer maintenance services, or do you want to represent wind turbine manufacturers and sell them, or are you thinking of making them yourself.

Each of these will have its own challenges and therefore it might be a good idea to check your desire with the leading organisations dealling with renewables:

Ultimately it is best to get a professional consulting company to help and advice you as it is a real minefield in the wind power sector. Unless you manufacture them the profits are low and most of it is because it is subsidised by the local governments (they have to reach renewable energy targets). Even manufacture of windturbines is tricky, it is a lengthy process and you will have to prove yourself in the market as there is plenty of competition.

As mentioned you could start by contacting a consulting company, one of them is http://www.sgurrenergy.com/ who have experience worldwide.

When I know in a bit more detail what you want to be doing I might be able to help you better.

Sorry,

It's the abbreviation of Horizontal axis wind turbine.

Thank you for your question!

I think that on your side of the pond, Proven is the one to look at first. I don't know about their profitability to you as a dealer, but I do know that their product has a good reputation. Good thing, that. Otherwise you lose your profits from new sales because you have to patch the mess from previous installations.

Aurizon has provided an excellent response....

...keep that in mind and ask yourself a couple questions:

1. Shouldn't gaining employment/apprenticeship in this field and locale, be considered essential education/training (vocational perspective) and due dilligence (investment perspective), prior to embarking on some entrepreneuial venture?

2. If you are considering entreprenerial ventures, and are at an early stage, having yet to commit substantial time and capital to education and due dilligence, would it not make sense to consider businesses other than those found in the hottest new industies? Considering just the impact of competition, isn't it easy to see that a bland, out of favor, and always in demand business, will provide far superior opportunities for remaining a gong concern....and even for generating profits???

Hi guys (Guests), I don't want to sound bad but it would be a good idea if you could register and assign yourselves a proper name. Otherwise I may have to start calling you Guest1 and Guest2
