30mm Panel cut-out switches

09/27/2009 8:12 AM

I need to replace an electrical pushbutton switch (round type) from a panel which has the panel-cut-out of 30mm. Apparently all current common switches have panel cut-outs of 20 to 22mm. Unfortunately I can't modify the panel due to space restriction around the switch. The switch has 3 contacts:- 2x normally open / 1x normally closed. Any help from where I can get such switches as this?

You didn't share your location in your post or your profile, so I can only offer generalized suggestions.

22mm and 30.5mm are the industrial control switch standard sizes. All major manufacturers of industrial controls provide both options. You must be looking at third tier suppliers or non-industrial grade devices.

For the most part, 22mm is used in IEC based counties and North America, but 30.5mm is used mostly just in North America (because it matches the NEMA standard of 1.2 inches), so look at suppliers who provide components all over the world. Examples would be Siemens, ABB, Schneider, GE, Eaton etc.

Most of the standard push button are come with 22 mm hole diameter. You can look for telemcanique push button. The telemcaniuqe push button has the flexibility to add in the auxiliary contact (Normally open or Normally close) to the push button. It has two screw at the contact block and you just have to screw it in to the existing push button contact.

Since your existing push button have a 30 mm holes diameter, you can add another layer of plastic sheet with 20mm diameter to seal the 30mm holes. Use a round type of plastic sheet to seal it. It look nicer on the control panel.

The 30mm push switches are available from industrial electrical distributors around the country. You also did not indicate whether the switch is lighted, or the color of it. Here is a link to the webpage of one that shows some switches similar to your description: http://www.galco.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/wa/wcat/catalog.htm?familycode=SWITCH&subfamilycode=PBNONILL
