Depends on the abrasiveness of the epoxy. Some pigments add to the epoxy could cause it to be very abrasive. How much pressure its under during injection. The material make up of the barrel and screw. The injection equipment may not been designed to inject the material you are injecting. You might want to address this with the equipment manufacture. They may have a barrel and screw that will have a longer life.

The molding compound may be glass filled, too. This will quickly wear the barrel and screw.

Years ago, we'd have them chrome plated to decrease wear. I don't know what the hot ticket is today.

ozzb is correct. Contact your machine supplier and tell them what you are molding.

We also mold epoxy for electrical parts, and had the same problem. We would have to replace the barrel and screw every couple of weeks. We contacted our epoxy supplier and explained our problem. They modified the filler in the epoxy and now we replace the screw and barrel about once every two years or so. The filler was a silica at about 75%. They simply changed to a silica of a different partical size and shape. There was no difference in the finished product.
