Creepage

10/01/2009 3:07 AM

How much minimum creepage require the 12Kv Epoxy Insulation and how the creepage measure.

If, i know the creepage distance on insulator (ex:200mm). How much dry power frequency voltage withstand in the insulator.

Please give abrief note.

Regards,

Koduri

It depends on the application, the pollution level and any other additional safety margins or standard-specific requirements specific to the construction of the insulator and application.

For example outdoor overhead insulators have a specific creepage length of 16mm/kV for low pollution environments right down to >31mm/kV for very high pollution environments (as per IEC 815).

Specific values can be found in the standard applicable to your specific insulator and application.

What's the application?

The following is a good link. also try a google search of "creepage distance measurement" or similar

It depends on the type of insulator, its construction and if the voltage is continuous or a short pulse. Exactly what type of insulator or product are you using? Have you looked at the insulator datasheet or on the supplier website as there should be a maximum ac voltage rating listed.

Also see previous threads on CR4 on the subject. Here is just one example thread.
