what to do after Btech in mechanical engineering..??

hi all,

i am rethin, a final year Btech student of mechanical engineering.i am doing my btech in TKM college of engineering, kollam, kerala. even though its a reputed college in kerala none of the mechanical companies come for recruitment in our college and i am interested to work in a place only where i can utilize something that i learned all these four years. so what is the way in which i can get into some good mechanical firm..?i am actuallly planning to repeat one year for GATE and get into some iit..! or should i look for some PG DIPLOMA courses..?if so which are the good courses which i can do ..?/

which are the good institutes in INDIA..?am ready to move out of kerala to get into a good company or a good institute...

please do put in your valuable suggestions,

Welcome, rethink to CR4. I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but there are a lot of engineers here that can. So keep checking in...

By the way, I have a friend (EE) whose license plate on his car says "MAD MALU."

Dear Rethin

If you have a passion for mechanical engineering, there is no problem. The demand in India for good engineers is rising because the IT sector has been taking away the best brains from hard engineering. If you can do it, I would say do a PG. Of course if you just want money, you can learn some computer application and shift to IT. I am a mechanical engineer working from Trivandrum.

Mechanical Engineering is a versatile branch of engineering. Do not get disheartened due to lack of campus recruitment. It may be due to recession. You have ample opportunities ahead of you. In India itself various public sectors like IOC, BHEL are recruiting Mechanical Engineers every year. You have UPSE exam. There are many power plants are coming up in private sectors. Read newspapers regularly and apply. All the best.

i think you should do job after completing B.Tech..get some practical experience of corporate world..with job you can do PGDBM courses of management..or any other course related to your interest...try from now onwards for job ,,you will get it...

Hey, I am a Mech Engr from Trichur,Govt Engg college way back in 1969!! Even though there were hardly 120 mech Engineers passing out an year, me and many of my batch mates were without good job for 2 yrs! Of course I came out of Kerala and had a very good career in India and I still continue working in Middle east!

Now, even with a large lot of 600,000 Engineers passing out every year, job market is much better in India. Come out of Kerala and knock at every door and excel in a selected field and work hard! We find a big lack of good young mech Engineers now. Dont waste your time to get a higher degree unless it is from USA!

You will be out of this illusion shortly after getting some job.

what to do after

Some Mallu asking this question is shame for mallus.
