CE Mark requirements for RTD's, Temp. Sensors,

Hi all,

I am looking for help from the community. I have one of my friend who manufacturing RTD's thermocouples and temperature sensors. He wants to obtain CE Mark for his products.

I would like to know, in which Directive they fall into and what are the test requirements as per european standards or any other relevant test requirements.

Can anyone guide me Pls...its urgent.

Hi,

RTD and similar resistance temperature sensors are considered as "Safety Components" under the machinery directive. however, they do not qualify as a "machine; And, as they work at voltages below 50V; as such they do not fall under LV directive.

Hence, their assessment as a standalone RTD or similar component is incomplete until they are "used" in any environment like

Household or similar appliances

Machinery or panels

Medical devices

etc.

This prevents the manufacturer from affixing the "CE" mark.

But the manufacturer must go through all the CE requirements and provide his compliance letter to his Clients who are seeking CE mark for their products.
