Coke Drum Material

10/16/2009 2:27 AM

Dear All Participants

As you know the coke drums are one of the most important equipment of Delayed Coking Unit. For sure the cyclic heating and forced coling are affecting the drum shell material by cracking and bulging. What alloy material is supporting in the best condition this kind of problems in order to minimise cooling time and then increasing production cycle?

Thank you to all

Hello Aurel,

Syncrude or Suncor?

Although I'm at a loss to help you in this regard, I know of a company (not mine!) involved in in-situ weld-overlay. They've repaired and re-established the pressure boundaries of a number of coking drums with some quite exotic materials.

If this is something that might help, I can dig through my old records to see what I can find.
