PLASMA SCREENS

10/17/2009 5:19 AM

Is there a reason why pixels in a plasma screen are as B rectangular and vertical?

could they be like C rectangular and diagonal?

Is there a beneficial difference between A (round) and B (rectangular) pixels?

Tks

There is no topological difference between B and C, however as TV works on a horizontal scan one would assume a horizontal arrangement of pixels is simpler to drive than a diagonal one.

Similarly lane lines on a road could run diagoanlly, but they are much more useful when they stay on the tarmac.

The difference between A and B is self evident from the illustration (less black area with B)
